Sarah's Second Chance Dog Rescue
About us
Our Mission
Our mission at Sarah's Second Chance Dog Rescue is to save the lives of innocent dogs that have been abandoned, abused, or forced out of their homes, and provide quality medical care and place them into forever homes, and give them a second chance at life. SSCDR will also provide awareness of animal abuse and promoting the importance of being a responsible pet owner, socialization, vaccinating, spay/neuter, training, and good nutrition.
Description
We are a small non-profit (not a 501c3) dog rescue. We are a 501 registered with the State of Connecticut and we have a EIN #.
Sarah's Second Chance has been helping dogs for over
13 years and also has helped placed many dogs and cats as "Courtesy Posts" on facebook, petfinder, adoptapet and on our website.
SSCDR will rescue dogs from high-kill shelters, on their last day. We give them a second chance at life. Most of these dogs have never felt a loving home, a warm bed, a toy to play with, or someone to just give them a pat on the head.
SSCDR will rescue dogs from shelters and take in owner surrenders from the state of Connecticut.
We are a very small dedicated group, who run this rescue only on donations, and out of our own pockets. Any donation is never too little and it is always greatly appreciated.
SSCDR will also help families, who need to surrender their dogs, and we will help them find foster homes or forever homes for their dogs.
When we rescue a dog, the dog is brought to the vet to get a clean bill of health. They are given a Rabies shot, Distemper shot, Bordetella shot, 4DX, de-wormed, checked for Lyme Disease, Heartworm and for Parasites. They also are micro-chipped and neutered/spayed. Then they are given a heartworm and a flea prevenative treatment.
If we have a dog that has medical issues, and they need surgery, we try to do a fundraiser to help with the medical bills. We pay for all vet bills out of our own pockets, so again, any donation is greatly appreciated.
If you are interested in adopting or fostering for Sarah's Second Chance please email: sarahs2ndchance@yahoo.com and we will send you an application.
We collect refundable bottles/cans and all money collect from the bottles and cans go directly for vet bills and dog related items.
